Root AI is relocating from Somerville’s Greentown Labs to a 5,000-square-foot facility at 78 Olympia Avenue, Woburn. “Root AI was ready to graduate from an incubator to a larger space of its own, but could not find what they needed in Somerville at a price that worked,” said Cummings Properties leasing officer Steve Cusano. “Our Woburn location allows this rapidly expanding company to save on rent and dedicate more resources to growth while remaining close to Boston.” Root AI joins a cluster of technology companies—including agricultural tech firm Agrivida and robotic truck developer Balyo—at 78 Olympia Avenue. Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) has established a new location at 600 West Cummings Park in Woburn. The Woburn site is the seventh CARD office to open in Massachusetts. In December 2017, CARD opened a location at Cummings Center in Beverly. CARD’s new 4,700-square-foot center features a sensory gym, which helps children with special needs develop their sensory, communication, and motor skills while improving fitness. LexaGene Holdings Inc., a biotechnology company that develops instrumentation for pathogen detection, has significantly expanded its operations in Massachusetts. Originally based in Vancouver, Canada, LexaGene recently signed a lease for a 17,500-square-foot office, lab, and R&D space at 500 Cummings Center, Suite 4550, in Beverly. The new location includes a state-of-the-art, level-two biosafety laboratory, which will allow LexaGene to adhere to biocontainment precautions specified by the CDC while testing for pathogens.
